Have a lot of foods on hand to snack on. You don't want to grab just anything off the shelves at the super market or convenience store to munch on. ALL pre packaged foods CONTAIN SUGAR. Read the ingredients label, along with the nutritional values. Most items that claim to be sugar free, really are not. I stock up on Atkins Bars, Carbolite Chocolate bars and Revolution Bars. (If you have a "Trader Joe's" market in your area, that's the place to get 'em for the best price.)
Most cheeses have NO carbs. Atkins calls them one of the free foods which means you can have as much as it takes to satisfy you. One day snack on string cheese sticks, another day, cheddar, or whatever flavor you like.
If you like BLT's, keep a head of butter or Romain lettuce, a tomato and plenty of bacon in the fridge. Roll up the bacon and tomato in a leaf of lettuce, and don't forget the Real Mayonnaise. MMMmm! I can eat a dozen! (and it's okay!)
If you eat breakfast, the best pancakes are made with The Atkins Bake Mix. And his pancake syrup is really thick and sweet. Top em off with some whipped cream. Yum!
Also his Shake Mixes make this diet a real pleasure to do. They are so rich and thick and fattening!!! Thats what I love about this diet! You can eat fattening luscious foods, and lose weight. It will take you a while to get over the guilt, but once you see the pounds melting away and realize how wonderful you feel, you'll get over that.
One day whip up some egg salad, another Tuna, or Chicken. If you have plenty of the "free foods" in the fridge you'll quickly see how easy this diet is to do. All you do is eat! (One of my favorite things to do)
All Meats and Fish are "FREE FOODS" Eggs too! How many ways can you make an omelett?
When I dine out, I usually order steak, chicken or pork, broccoli, and a salad. (I use real butter on the brocolli) I use my own Italian or bleu cheese dressing on the salad. (All restaurant salad dressings contain sugar. No matter what the waiter tells you.) By the way, Red Wine vinegar has some very healthy properties. I use it regularly with olive oil for my Italian salad dressing, and I take it with me. |
